The request already exists in your inbox
Somebody has already written the email. They've said what's wrong, where it is, and often how urgent it is. We don't think anyone should have to read that and type it all out again into a form, so WorkOrders doesn't ask them to.
What we believe
Most job management software assumes someone will open the app and raise a ticket. In practice, work almost always arrives as an email: a tenant to a property manager, a site foreman to a contractor, a line supervisor to maintenance, a customer to a helpdesk. Your inbox is already your job list. It's just hard to work from, because nothing sorts it, ranks it or gets it to the right person.
So WorkOrders starts with the inbox. It reads the message, writes up the job, works out how urgent it is and offers it to your team. It also emails the customer to keep them updated, without anyone writing a reply. After that it's normal job management: assigning, tracking, completing and reporting.
How it's built
Each company's jobs, customers and mailboxes are kept separate from every other company's. AI reads incoming emails, fills in the job details a person would otherwise type by hand, and describes the attachments. Updates from the field app reach the office without anyone refreshing the page. All of this only works if the AI gets things right and jobs reach your team quickly, so that's where most of our effort goes.
Everything the AI fills in goes into a field you can edit, and nothing it writes goes to a customer unless a person sends it. It's there to help the people doing the work, and it doesn't make decisions for them.
Who's behind it
WorkOrders is built by Molehill Creations, a small software studio in Wellington, New Zealand. We're not venture-funded, so we build what the businesses using WorkOrders need. When you email support, the person who reads it can change the software.
Being small means there's no 24-hour call centre. It also means WorkOrders won't be shut down because it stopped fitting somebody else's plans. The people who build it read the support inbox themselves.

You can export your jobs to CSV at any time. If you leave, you take everything with you.
No surprise charges
Each plan is a fixed price for up to a set number of people. Adding someone never changes your bill without you knowing.
The mailbox stays yours
Once an email has become a job, we move it into its own folder. We never delete it or mark it as read.
